Surprise Shopping

Just yesterday I discovered this awesome frame that Ikea sells (the Ung Drill) and decided that I needed to have one. It's a gorgeous plastic replication of a cast iron decorational frame. I have absolutely zero room for it in my apartment, but I still needed it. There are some things you just cannot miss getting. While there I ventured into the as is room and picked up two 11 3/4 X 15 3/4 white Ribba frames for $8 each. I have no idea why they were in the as is room for as is prices, but they seemed fine as far as I could tell.

Then today I ventured out to my favourite thrift store in Scarborough with the intention of placing a bid on four gorgeous brass framed pictures that will be in their live auction on the 26th and possibly getting a pair of pants or two for work.

Then I got there and noticed that all skirts were half off.

Now I already have at least 50 skirts, but I bought another ten today. I just can't help myself! Anyway, for $55 I got the following:

10 skirts
4 tops
2 jackets

My skirts ranged in price from $1.50 to $4! Steals, all of them! I'd take pictures but my legs are not in skirt shape today. ;) I will get pictures at some point, though. Some of them are just gorgeous!

I also bought some more tops and two dresses when I was there earlier in the week. I seriously need more storage space for my clothing, it's getting a little ridiculous. I think I need to do an apartment make over.

Anyway, I also need to figure out what to do with my Ung frame. The only thing I know for sure is that I don't want to leave it black. Or if I did, I'd need to spray paint it so it doesn't look like shiny plastic. I'm thinking of painting it white or bright red. I'm just not sure which.

And then what do I do with the inside? I don't really have any artwork that would fit in there. I could possibly have a mat made and then frame some other artwork I have, but then I could also paint it with the rest of my chalkboard paint I have left over.

So many options, but still nowhere to hang it.

And to end off my happy post - my boys just demolished Hannover today, 7-0! I do feel bad for Hannover, but wtfever, I'm not letting my pity over take my pride! They needed this ahead of their Champion's League semi-final with Lyon on Wednesday. I am so proud to be a Bayern fan. :)

The best birthday present I ever ruined.

So since some time last spring I have been coveting this fabulous oil painting at TEG. But that was when I had just lost my job, so I couldn't really afford to spend $125 on a painting. It dropped to $75 over the summer, but still on my limited budget I could not afford it.

Though it's fantastic and unique and kind of creepy, to my shock and awe no one bought it. Seriously, I don't quite know what's wrong with people, that no one snatched this picture up. For months it sat there, looking for a home. But no one took it. I take that as a sign that this guy was waiting for me. Maybe other people looked at it, but he made angry faces and chased them away, saving himself for me. That's how I like to think of it, at least.

So with my second paycheque (he was supposed to be bought with the first, but that got spent on other things) I went down to TEG and finally took him home with me. Turns out, though, that Kris had actually planned to buy it for my birthday (which is at the end of the month). He was going to buy it and then take me to the store and watch as I cried over the fact that someone had stolen my painting from me. But unfortunately I beat him to it!

That's a shame, because it would have been the best birthday present ever. Now the poor boy has to figure something else out. ;)

It kind of makes me think of two people standing together, watching the end of the world. It has a very apocalyptic feel to it. The world has taken on a putrid yellow tinge, and the peach sun is setting for the last time, and the trees have all withered and lost their leaves. The couple knows this is the end, and they watch on in fascination. At least the world is going out with style.

Enough melodrama! Let's move on to happier topics, like birds! Friday was a gorgeous day, and it being a holiday and all, the only thing I really wanted to do was take Kris out for lunch somewhere on a patio. The weather was amazing (it was more summer than spring) and after some shopping we settled down to eat at my favourite Japanese restaurant, Tokyo Sushi. After a fantastic meal (I had the yummiest teriyaki beef sushi roll in the world) we walked a few steps to TEG and as soon as I walked in the door what greeted me but these boys!

For $25 for the pair of them, how could I say no? Kris doesn't like them - finds them creepy. We argued amicably about them and the lady working the register laughed at us, especially when Kris said "Fine, you get them, but they're staying on your side!" and I replied "He doesn't yet realize that every side is my side!"Good times. :)

They need names, but I haven't decided on any yet. And I wish I could tae better pictures, but my camera was having a bad day. I totally need a new one. :(

Now earlier in the day that Friday I took advantage of an 11am meeting Kris had with Alfons, a friend/mentor of his who publishes Inside Soccer magazine, and I drove myself down the road from his meeting spot to Pacific Mall, one of the few shopping centres open on Good Friday. The place doesn't open until 11, so it was good to get there early before the mad crowds arrived.

I love Chinese fashion. They have the funkiest clothes there! I bought myself two new shirts ($25 each, a bit steep for my liking, but they're worth it), a cute cardigan, and some hair accessories (headbands and hair clips). Here are some pictures!

I love this shade of blue! And the girl and her pet are felt outlines, and look, it sparkles! It's a lovely piece, I think.

My new favourite tank top! It even has pockets! I love this shade of yellow, as I've mentioned before with a cardigan. It really suits my skin tone, I think. I definitely need more Col. Mustard yellow. :)

And at $10, who could say no to a cute little pink lace-trimmed zip-up sweater? It's adorable! I am trying to expand my colour palette and do have a few pink cardigans already, but the lace on this one just made me unable to pass it up.

And now for good measure, have a few shots of the bird!

Hand-Drawn Maps

I've always had a fascination with maps - looking at them, making maps of my own, and I'd love to start collecting maps. So it's a bit of a shock and surprise that I never came across this site before: http://www.handmaps.org/maps.php

A collection of random hand-drawn maps. I can't wait to go through all of them! So far I've only looked at number 225, but it's so fascinating with all the text written over top!

An Equation In Awesome

What do you get when you add the reincarnation of Dimebag Darrell, who is running "Bear-aoke":

With Bubbles from The Trailer Park Boys

Singing "The Rodeo Song" in its original form
"Get off the stage you god damn gook"

And bottles of Canadian are only $3.50?

James' Black Bear Pub

Originally, we were going out to watch UFC, but then Kris realized the fights are on Sunday, not Saturday. So instead we decided to drive down Danforth and look for the skeeziest dive bar we could find. We found a few, and were originally going to bar hop between them. But we ended up staying here all night. I had no idea a bar this honky existed in Toronto. Seriously, I felt like I was out in Whitby, not Scarborough! All in all, though, it was a highly entertaining night, and Kris and I are totally going to go back there.

Bird on the Brain

The world can always benefit from a little more Hari, right?

Thrift Finds: Vol 3

So after leaving work on Friday, I decided to wander on down to Gerard Street to peruse my other favourite store in Toronto, Eclectisaurus. I haven't been in months, because I knew going there without any money to buy anything would really depress me.

So I walked in and started up a little chat with Leslie, the store owner. I told her about my new job, she congratulated me, and we talked for a while about enjoying your work and all the fantastic little things she has.

As soon as I walked in, my attention was caught up by this fabulous little piggy bank. He was unlike any other piggy bank I'd ever seen, more detailed and quite the snappy dresser! At only $20, how could I possibly say no? Look at that face!

Waechtersbach Piggy Bank - $20

There were many other things I wanted, but I am trying not to blow all my money right off the bat. So I left with only my bank, and promised Leslie I'd be back to buy more of her things! There's a gorgeous little bracelet that I had my eyes on the last time I was there, and it's still there (and only $35) so I think I may possibly buy it the next time I'm in, unless something else catches my eye.

Before that I'd stopped in at a random thrift store in the basement of a house across the street. To be honest, I was really just looking for a pair of flats to replace the heeled boots I was wearing that were murdering my feet. While I did find a pair, I also found two awesome dresses!

French Connection - $5

I love French Connection's clothing, but sadly it tends to be out of my price range. So to find a dress from there for $5? I was sold the second I saw the fabric!

Rosa Rose Ribbon Dress with heart chain belt - $10

This was originally $15, and while I liked the dress, I didn't like it for that price. I asked if I could just buy the belt, but the lady said no - she worried the dress wouldn't sell without the belt. She asked if I'd take it for $12, I said I'd do it for $10, and I got it! It is cute, but I look at it as getting the dress free with the belt, and not the other way around.

Then we move on to today! It was off to the post office to pick up my new journal, and I decided to celebrate the occasion by breaking in my bright pink ruffled French trench! (It's pinker than it appears in the pictures; I need to get a picture in natural lighting instead of the flash.)

Bright pink ruffled girl's coat - produced by French label Lilli - $5

Yes, it's intended to be for a girl (a 12 year old, so it says on the label) but I don't care! This coat makes me super happy (even just to stare at). It fits me, so I'm wearing it. Since it was a bit chilly today I slapped on some black arm warmers and it looks adorable!

So I pick up my journal and head back home to open it. Erin (the seller) did a fabulous job of wrapping it, it was really well packaged. She included a free pin covered in a gorgeous fabric that will look lovely on a jacket, and a piece of chalk to draw on the cover with.

Chalkboard Journal in Grassy Greens - Erinzam - $48USD

I am all ready to get started on filling it in. I've been waiting a few weeks to get this thing, so you'd think I'd be all prepared, right? No! I love this thing so much that I really need to figure out exactly what I'm going to do with it, and what I want to include where.

I'm excited and will post my progress later. :)

Buy List

Since I've been unemployed for the past seven months, I have slowly built up a list of things I'd like to buy, but didn't have the money for. Now that I'm working again, I figure I should prioritize that list so I don't put myself into debt within my first month of having money again.

Already Purchased
Chalkboard journal - $60
Knee high boots for work - $40
Picture @ TEG - $75
Flats for work - $20
Polaroid-inspired picture frames @ KSP - $15
16GB mp3 player - $150
Funky birds @TEG - $15
Clothes @ SATS - $75

To Be Purchased
Now I've devised a way of prioritizing here, based on "want" versus "need". Want takes top priority, because why live through life basing your happiness on what you need instead of what you want? I then further prioritize based on the need element of those wanted items, which I think balanced everything out.

Couch cover cleaning - $70 - Want: *** Need: ***
New Camera - $100+ - Want: *** Need: **
Haircut - $100? - Want: *** Need: *
City Scape Stamp Set"> @ Yellow Owl Workshop - $40 - Want: *** Need: *
Fuji Instax Mini Polaroid Camera - $120 - Want: *** Need: *
Jewelry on Etsy - Random Prices - Want: *** Need: *
Bamboo Shoots - $10 - Want: ** Need: **
Antique Bracelet @ Eclectisaurus - $35 - Want: ** Need: **
Wine glasses @ TEG - $90 - Want: ** Need: **
Fur Covered Key Holder @ Eclectisaurus - $10 - Want: ** Need: *
Poison ring @ TEG - $65 - Want: ** Need: *
Spring Trenchcoat - $100 - Want: ** Need: *

That's my list for right now. I'll probably post updates of this as time goes on and I either buy things or add things to the list.

My First Paycheck.

So I got paid today. I actually thought I was only getting paid for the first two days I worked, but it turns out it was my pay for the first two weeks! Needless to say, that was about an extra $1000.

So, in order to celebrate, while I was out at lunch picking up stamps to send out other people's cheques, I happened to notice some super cute boots on sale.

So I bought them.

Pictures later. It just feels good to have money again. :D

Budget Wardrobe: Week 1

One of the things I want to do with this blog is document how fantastic the world of second hand shopping can be! Honestly, I buy about 90% of my clothes now second hand, and I don't ever want to go back to buying everything new. It's just so much more cost affordable this way!

My favourite place to shop is actually the Salvation Army Thrift Store. Not only do they actually have really nice stuff, but they have bi-weekly sales! This post reflects my haul from this past Friday's sale, in celebration of St. Patrick's Day (any green clothing, or clothing with a green tag, was half off).

Button up brown sweater - $2.50
Violent Femmes T-shirt - $1.00
Olive Green Skirt - $2.50

Pink Skirt - $2.50

Green Cherries Shirt - $2.00
Green Circle Skirt - $2.50
Catching my bird mid-flight: Priceless!

Green Tube Top - $1.50
Black Vest - $20 (new at H&M)
Cameo Brooch - included on a shirt I bought at Pacific Mall
Denim Skirt - $1.50

Orange Sweater Vest - $1.50

Brown & White Striped Sweater - $3.00

Orange Daisy Button Sweater - $3.00

Green Jacket - $3.50
Light Blue Tube Top - $2.00
Jeans - $2.50

Turquoise Jacket - $3.50

Grand Total: $35.00
Okay so I lied, half of those actually came from the previous week's haul. ;) I just liked them so much I had to include them! Regardless - take any two of those items and that's your brand new price (hell, half the items would be even more expensive than that). Everything was good quality, no stains or rips or anything. Of course not everything is perfect quality, but the vast majority is honestly pretty gently used. More than good enough for me!

I also wanted to mention one of my favourite necklaces! I bought this little bear at an antique store for $1! Isn't he fabulous? I wear him at least a few days a week. He's a nice weight and size.

Anyway that's all for the clothes in this post! I want to try and do one of these posts every time I buy new things. It's a great way to expand the wardrobe without breaking the bank! It's especially useful with my new job. The old job I just wore jeans and t-shirts to work, thus I had junked a good portion of my office wardrobe. This makes building it back up way easier on me! And to be honest - I think it's way more fun too.

Congratulations are in order...

TO ME! I got the job! So that means...
This dude is currently on his way to me (or at least he will be in the next day or so). I told myself that I would wait to order one until I received confirmation about the job, and I did today. They checked out my references and decided to formally offer me the position. I accepted, of course. I start on Thursday, so I have another day off to prepare. I don't know what I'm more excited about - the job, or getting this stupid journal. :P

Also in happy news for me today is the fact that my favourite footie team, FC Bayern Munchen (of Germany, of course), advanced to the next stages of the UEFA Champions League today! I am so proud of my boys for pulling this off. Even though they lost in Italy, they still managed 2 away goals to Fiorentina's 1, so they go through! I am super psyched.

Today was awesome. It was also the first day I went outside in a skirt with no socks/tights! I also wore flip flops. This was equally due to both the weather and the fact that I have blisters on both of my little toes. :P

The Mad Italian

So today started out interestingly enough - with a notice from my landlord saying that I owed money and if I didn't pay in two weeks I'd be evicted! Madness, I always pay my rent. So I called and got the "Oh, we just got your payment on Friday, so ignore that notice!" Lovely. How about next time, you guys actually deposit the rent cheques you get on time? Yeah thanks.

Anyway, I then got a phone call, followed by an e-mail, with an offer for that job I interviewed for! It even pays a little more than I was expecting, which is great. It's contingent on them speaking with my references, though, so I should know by Thursday if I really do get it or not. So I'm pretty excited about that! First thing I thought of was "Oh boy, now I can order one of those chalkboard journals!" I am really quite obsessed. :)

So after squealing about that to the man, we decided to go for a walk since it's so gorgeous here. 14 degrees today and sunny! It was beautiful. We walked down Bayview and had some food at The Bagel House (Montreal style bagels!) followed by a visit to The Elegant Garage Sale! They had a basket of carved wooden animals for $5 each out front, so I picked out a nice little ox. Then I went in and found this awesome piece, it's quite big and heavy and is carved to resemble a knight chess piece. It was also only $5! When we were back outside Kris noticed a box with some free things, one of which happened to be another wooden figure that is either the roadrunner or some kind of flighted dinosaur. Either way it was pretty cool. There was also a bin of free old books, so I picked up a few! There were two old military books, a home improvement manual from the 70s, and some Christian publication from 1904! Fabulous finds, even moreso when they're free. :)

After that we returned home, had some food and did some work, then went back out to try a new gelato place on Bayview, called The Mad Italian. It's right across from TEGS, and I'd been meaning to try it out. It was awesome! They, like Hollywood Gelato down the street, have a Ferrero Rocher gelato, but they actually use crushed Ferrero Rocher pieces! It was so good. I will definitely be going back for more.

Introducing Hari!

So I figured, since I mentioned him in the last post (and since I took a little photoshoot of him by the mirror) that I would introduce my bird! His name is Hari (which in Sanskrit apparently means green) and he is a Green Cheek Conure. He's the sweetest, most adorable, yet kind of bratty bird you will ever meet. He loves playing with people, and he loves having his head rubbed. He hates scissors, and the phone is his mortal enemy. Unlike other birds, who can be seen on YouTube dancing to regular people music, the ONLY thing my bird will dance to is the sound of running water. Seriously. I need to explain to him that it costs money to leave the tap running. Sometimes though he will also do a little dance when you flush the toilet.
I don't know, he's weird. But I love his quirkiness. :)

Thrift Finds Vol. 2

Today's post focuses more on artwork! Let's get right down to it, then, shall wee?
First up is one of my two favourite finds ever. Once again, I snagged this guy at The Elegant Garage Sale down on Bayview. I actually let him stay there a few weeks, while I looked at him longingly every time. I didn't end up buying him until one day when I went in and he wasn't in his usual spot on the wall! I thought someone had bought him, and I felt really sad. But then I went downstairs and found him in a new spot! I practically ran over to him and snatched him off the wall so he could come home with me. He's not in the best of shape, since there's no glass in his frame. He's got some water marks, and a tear on the corner. I like to think of them as battle scars, though. He's had a long life, and has finally come home to rest!
A little about the work: it's a piece by Hubert Hilscher, a prominent artist from the acclaimed Polish School of Posters.

Next up is my second favourite piece ever, which I also purchased at TEG! It's a vintage mirrored advertisement for soap. I have no clue as to its history - no idea how old it actually is (if it's even old at all) but to be honest I really don't care.
It's a fabulous piece. I love everything about it - how the lady seems too preoccupied with her beauty routine to give a damn about the poor kid holding the basin of water for her. I love the girl's dress. I also love that it's framed in wood. This was actually the very first piece I ever purchased for my new apartment, and I daresay it set the tone for all future purchases.
Before this piece, I'd been drawn to the modern, to sleek and sophisticated and computer generated. But after I bought this, I totally changed and started hunting vintage.

So I kind of cheated with this one - I didn't thrift it, I got it from my parents! When I left home and moved to Toronto, they let me (forced me) to take some stuff. They originally bought this piece when we lived in Germany (and made frequent trips to France) so I'd always known that it would one day be coming with me. I love it, the style is gorgeous, and it reminds me of my childhood in Germany.
Also down on the floor next to it is a Snow White satchel bag that I did get at a thrift store! I believe I bought it at Public Butter, which is in downtown Toronto.
I have no idea what language is used on the bag, it reads "Xionath kai 7 nanoi" (or at least that's what it looks like). It doesn't really matter, of course, but I've always been curious.

And last we have a lovely little mirror I found, from Seventeen magazine, that says "Pretty Is In!" With a tag line like that, it must be a little old, right? ;)
I'm a big fan of printed mirrors, so any time I happen to see one, I snap it up! I sadly only have two, but I'm sure that will change. I keep this one on the ledge near my door, so I can check myself out every time I leave, haha. My bird (who you'll see there!) has taken quite a liking to the mirror. About 60% of the time I come home, he'll be on that ledge, french kissing himself in the mirror (seriously, there are little birdie tongue marks all over the corner of it right at his level!).
I guess he agrees that pretty is in!

Plotting & Planning

I keep thinking about that chalkboard journal. I think I will actually do something different from the typical organizer. I am not going to fill it out on a daily basis. I will simply fill it out on the basis of whether or not I have anything to do. I will also make sections.

1. Story ideas: I do a lot of writing, so a section to store all of my ideas would benefit me greatly.

2. Wine list: I love a good white wine, and while I do currently have a favourite that I typically end up buying, I do not have a spot to jot down new wines I try, so I can remember whether or not I liked them.

3. Restaurant Ratings: I'd only be writing about places I either really enjoyed, or would never return to.

4. Research: Companies that look interesting, brand names I find myself enjoying, books that sound interesting, music or movies, etc. Basically anything I come across that catches my eye and I want to know more about.

I am very excited about this book. So I really hope I get a job soon so I buy myself one. (Speaking of which, my interview yesterday went well, so here's to hoping they hire me!)

Lunch & Some Antiquated Ladies

So today I met up with my brother and his girlfriend, and we strolled down Bayview to finally decide upon Fukui Sushi for some lunch. I had the Grilled Chicken Bento Box, and it was amazing. Seriously so freaking good! I really like the place, they just add little touches to make it special. For instance instead of the same old typical tempura vegetables, this place served tempura skewered mushrooms! Fab.

After that I took them to my favourite store in the city that was conveniently steps away, The Elegant Garage Sale. Half of my apartment is from that store (not counting furniture, though I wish it counted furniture!). We browsed for a while and for $20 I walked away with two gorgeous framed pictures - "The Sunflower" and "The Cottage Maid".

I am in love with the younger girl, honestly it was love at first sight. I saw them, thought about them, then walked away and told myself if my interview went well I'd come back for them. I finished browsing the store, only to come back to see them off and noticed someone else looking at them! My heart nearly leapt out of my chest, and that's when I knew I had to buy them on the spot. No waiting around.

The framing on the prints was done quite a while ago, back when no one had a phone number of their own! I'm saving the advertising tags for the framing company, since they're old and they make me smile. I'll likely reframe them though (I did take them out of their frames, which involved pulling nails out of the frame!) or at least paint the frames a different colour. We'll see.

Just a close up of the girl, since she's so gorgeous and deserves to be shown off. Despite its age, the print is in good condition! The other lady must have had a leaky roof in her cottage, because she has a nice water stain (not that I mind, I actually quite like water stains). I love her expression, and her lips! And those ringlets! Lovely.

And a shot to show off the gorgeous detailing around the portrait. This one was definitely fancier than the other one, and I think it fits the subjects, since she appears to be of a much higher class than the Cottage Maid.

The only thing that's left now is a name! I think I might end up calling her Ophelia. She definitely looks like an Ophelia.

Things I Need, Vol. 1

Chalkboard book: So I am totally lusting over this. I have been wanting to get myself back into journalling (after starting and then stopping last year) but was not able to find a journal I liked enough. This, though, this is pure perfection! I love the random pages (much more visually appealing) and I love the chalkboard cover! It's wonderful. Once I get a job, I think this may possibly be my first gift to myself. I need it.

Want. Now.

So while perusing one of my favourite blogs , I happened to see the most fantastic reading area. I am seriously in love with this thing and one day hope to have something similar built! Just look at it, so many seating options! It looks so cozy, and I love that three people can sit in there at the same time. It's wonderful.

Job Interview!

So, I know I wasn't planning to post things of a too personal nature in here, but I need to talk about this somewhere, and I don't feel like doing it on Facebook or LiveJournal. I don't have many people reading this yet, so I decided to do it here instead. I want to be able to squeal excitedly without getting twenty responses wishing me luck. ;)

Anyway, so I have been on EI for a while, and my coverage is nearing its end. So I have been starting to panic a little, wondering what the hell I'm going to do for money since I have zero savings. So I've been submitting resumes for the past few days and stressing myself out on and off about wondering when and if anyone will contact me back.

I finally got a call today! It's just a reception job, which is not at the top of my pile of preferences, but wtfever. It's a job!

Best part about it? Location! It's at Yonge & Church, right on the northern cusp of downtown. It does suck in the respect that I'll have to take the subway to work in the morning (I hate that thought) but I can walk home after work! It's only about a 50 minute walk for me, which is perfect. I will also be able to get to BMO Field/Lamport for TFC/CSL games more easily and with no worry or being late.

It's also temporary, only until January, filling in for maternity leave. Which is good, because I don't want to be stuck doing this job for long, haha. It'll motivate me to look for something else.

I abhor the thought of working 9-5 again, but sometimes we must do things in life that we do not want to do. As long as I'm paid well enough though, I'll be okay. And this way I can hang out downtown way more often! OOH! I will actually be able to hang out with some of my favourite people on a more frequent basis, since they all go to the Duke after work!

Oh I hope this works out. I have enjoyed my nearly year off, but it's time for me to get a job again. :)

ETA: Today is totally going well for me. After booking my interview I went to buy myself some snacks at Mac's, and discovered the last Wunderbar they have! They haven't had any in their recent shipments, and I guess this guy was hiding under the Butterfingers. So I scooped him up. :)

Then I just talk to my dad on the phone, and he started teasing me about my bird (who escaped one day and spent a night sleeping outside in the wilderness;) saying how I should have him tested for bird syphillys or bird gonnorhea! It was very funny. It's also nice and sunny outside, perfect skirt and sweater weather!

And I just got a call for another interview. WTF Wednesday?! You're my new favourite day of the week. :)

Thrift Store Finds: Vol. 1

I have a lot to write about, as over the past few years I've collected a lot of interesting little things. I don't want to burden myself with documenting everything right away, so I'll document everything I already have by bits and pieces, here and there. If I tried to do everything right away, I probably just wouldn't do it at all. :)

A group of random thrift store finds, including two bracelets, an antique belt ring, two hooks, a lion's head, and a mobster button I actually got for free. I'm quite fond of it, though I have no idea what a "Bruce Booster" is, exactly. I just hope it's something that won't get me in trouble. ;)

A close up of the belt ring.

My favourite shelf of my entertainment unit. Left to right: Hand molded clay candle holder, certificate of authenticity for my Alivan's wand, my favourite picture frame holding a vintage photograph of a particularly fierce looking young guy, a replica Time Turner (from Harry Potter), and a lovely red vase.

A pair of hand made masks from southern Germany. They are two characters from the region's annual Fasching parade (Carnival to the rest of the country).

A few close ups of some items. I really love that pirate ship hook, and the molded hand is beyond wonderful. I also have to mention that I do not actually drink tea. I just fell in love with that particular tea cup, and had to buy it. It makes me want to drink tea, actually.
