So, I know I wasn't planning to post things of a too personal nature in here, but I need to talk about this somewhere, and I don't feel like doing it on Facebook or LiveJournal. I don't have many people reading this yet, so I decided to do it here instead. I want to be able to squeal excitedly without getting twenty responses wishing me luck. ;)
Anyway, so I have been on EI for a while, and my coverage is nearing its end. So I have been starting to panic a little, wondering what the hell I'm going to do for money since I have zero savings. So I've been submitting resumes for the past few days and stressing myself out on and off about wondering when and if anyone will contact me back.
I finally got a call today! It's just a reception job, which is not at the top of my pile of preferences, but wtfever. It's a job!
Best part about it? Location! It's at Yonge & Church, right on the northern cusp of downtown. It does suck in the respect that I'll have to take the subway to work in the morning (I hate that thought) but I can walk home after work! It's only about a 50 minute walk for me, which is perfect. I will also be able to get to BMO Field/Lamport for TFC/CSL games more easily and with no worry or being late.
It's also temporary, only until January, filling in for maternity leave. Which is good, because I don't want to be stuck doing this job for long, haha. It'll motivate me to look for something else.
I abhor the thought of working 9-5 again, but sometimes we must do things in life that we do not want to do. As long as I'm paid well enough though, I'll be okay. And this way I can hang out downtown way more often! OOH! I will actually be able to hang out with some of my favourite people on a more frequent basis, since they all go to the Duke after work!
Oh I hope this works out. I have enjoyed my nearly year off, but it's time for me to get a job again. :)
ETA: Today is totally going well for me. After booking my interview I went to buy myself some snacks at Mac's, and discovered the last Wunderbar they have! They haven't had any in their recent shipments, and I guess this guy was hiding under the Butterfingers. So I scooped him up. :)
Then I just talk to my dad on the phone, and he started teasing me about my bird (who escaped one day and spent a night sleeping outside in the wilderness;) saying how I should have him tested for bird syphillys or bird gonnorhea! It was very funny. It's also nice and sunny outside, perfect skirt and sweater weather!
And I just got a call for another interview. WTF Wednesday?! You're my new favourite day of the week. :)
