The Mad Italian

So today started out interestingly enough - with a notice from my landlord saying that I owed money and if I didn't pay in two weeks I'd be evicted! Madness, I always pay my rent. So I called and got the "Oh, we just got your payment on Friday, so ignore that notice!" Lovely. How about next time, you guys actually deposit the rent cheques you get on time? Yeah thanks.

Anyway, I then got a phone call, followed by an e-mail, with an offer for that job I interviewed for! It even pays a little more than I was expecting, which is great. It's contingent on them speaking with my references, though, so I should know by Thursday if I really do get it or not. So I'm pretty excited about that! First thing I thought of was "Oh boy, now I can order one of those chalkboard journals!" I am really quite obsessed. :)

So after squealing about that to the man, we decided to go for a walk since it's so gorgeous here. 14 degrees today and sunny! It was beautiful. We walked down Bayview and had some food at The Bagel House (Montreal style bagels!) followed by a visit to The Elegant Garage Sale! They had a basket of carved wooden animals for $5 each out front, so I picked out a nice little ox. Then I went in and found this awesome piece, it's quite big and heavy and is carved to resemble a knight chess piece. It was also only $5! When we were back outside Kris noticed a box with some free things, one of which happened to be another wooden figure that is either the roadrunner or some kind of flighted dinosaur. Either way it was pretty cool. There was also a bin of free old books, so I picked up a few! There were two old military books, a home improvement manual from the 70s, and some Christian publication from 1904! Fabulous finds, even moreso when they're free. :)

After that we returned home, had some food and did some work, then went back out to try a new gelato place on Bayview, called The Mad Italian. It's right across from TEGS, and I'd been meaning to try it out. It was awesome! They, like Hollywood Gelato down the street, have a Ferrero Rocher gelato, but they actually use crushed Ferrero Rocher pieces! It was so good. I will definitely be going back for more.
